DAY 1, by Rebecca St. John:
Day one was a success! It was a day of traveling from Santa Fe to Denver and Denver to New York. Then when I got here, I ordered an Uber and got an amazing driver. He was very quiet but so kind and got me right up to where I needed to be for the event. Then I called the girls and they met me shortly after and brought me a yummy falafel sandwich. It was amazing!! Then we got right into the event and it was filled with love music preferences and awesome awards! It was almost a mini Oscar Awards, but a little more casual! Haha! Then we took a subway and a train and a shuttle back to Hofstra University, where Miss Tricey is being kind enough to let Stevie and I stay <3
We were all so tired, and now we are ready for day two!! 🙂 we sure are lucky to have Tricey as our guide in this crazy big city!!!
DAY 2, by Antriese Lacey
It was an amazing day, Saturday, at the All American High School Film Fest. When we got to the AMC Theatre we were surprised about the size of the building; they had elevators and escalators going all the way up to the seventh floor. We got plenty of merchandise and it was so surreal seeing our films on the big screen. All the films that were selected were so phenomenal. I loved watching all the films and meeting/networking with the filmmakers. While on a break we went to Times Square and witnessed/documented a proposal. Let’s just say we can cross that off our bucket list! We are super excited for the Red Carpet event tonight!
DAY 3, by Antriese Lacey
The Teen Indie Awards!! It was such an amazing experience walking down the red carpet knowing that you were there for a reason. In a room full of filmmakers from all over the country I was so glad to have the people I spent seven weeks with by my side. We all held a sense of accomplishment knowing we were representing the Youth Documentary Academy. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to let our voices be heard.
