Scout Film Festival Experience by Rebecca St. John
Scout Film Festival Experience by Rebecca St. John
Scout Film Festival was a wonderful experience. I have only had my film, “Rock Bottom” screened in my home state, Colorado, previous to this festival. So to fly out to Vermont and meet new filmmakers, my age, and have a whole new audience to view my film was incredible. It was so nice to talk with Anna Colavito, the creator of Scout Film Festival, and to establish a friendship as we grew to know each other over the long weekend. I’m so grateful to the Youth Documentary Academy for helping me get to this festival and supporting me through this entire experience. I’m so grateful to Karen Walldorf who traveled with me and guided me through this adventure. The Scout Film Festival opened my mind up to new types and genres of filmmaking. The peers I discussed with, had such interesting ideas and outlooks on their films and other’s as well. I was very touched to receive such positive reaction to my personal film. It was wonderful to watch my friends’ documentaries, from The Youth Documentary Academy, be screened at the Scout Film Festival as well, and to hear such outstanding reviews of them also. Scout Film Festival was such a wonderful and exciting adventure and I feel so honored to have gotten to be apart of it.
