SEASON 1
“UNDER THE WIRE” & “SURVIVING”
Suicide is the second leading cause of death for young people between the ages of 10 and 24. OUR TIME filmmakers Madison Legg and Sorin “Téa” Santos, both 17, tackle the issue head on in their films UNDER THE WIRE and SURVIVING. In both films, Legg and Santos effectively turn the camera on family (and themselves) to excavate the most taboo topics in their lives.
RUN TIME (26:40)

– FILMMAKER –
Legg confronts her younger brother who recently attempted suicide, and in an unusually intimate conversation, scours the emotional landscape of self harm, family secrets, and the costs of concealing painful emotions.

Santos’ film SURVIVING intimately recounts childhood illnesses that lead to their personal battle to fight against mental struggles. After attempting suicide himself Santos confronts his parents who were forced to admit their son into a psychiatric hospital.

ABOUT THE SERIES
OUR TIME is produced by the Youth Documentary Academy (YDA) using films directed by students of our Summer film production program. The stories told by our filmmakers offer fresh and unvarnished perspectives on universal social issues. OUR TIME has become a go-to for educators and families to acquire youth-generated content with a strong perspective. We began broadcasting on Rocky Mountain PBS in October 2019.
SPONSOR THE SERIES
To support the local engagement of the series, and to fund additional engagement to over 40 national markets, we are seeking sponsorships. With $50,000 we will be able to engage a national market. Support beyond this amount will allow us to expand both campaigns and to begin production for OUR TIME Season 2.
